No no to Prostitution and booze in hotels

This interesting sign hanging out from a hotel door, caught my eye!

Usually hotels and guesthouses arent that bold to single out the words "prostitute" and "alcohol" together.

In modern times like these, where countries of South East Asia is rapidly developing, the common thought of cheap hotels and motels to be "chicken farms" is still very much alive.
"Chicken farms" is the local slang for prostitution dens. The idea long ago was that motels like these that charge maybe RM 20- 50 an hour, is for men to take women up for a quickie, and surprisingly this idea still sticks to the minds of locals nowadays.

Not all motels and budget hotels are like that, and i beleive that this sign is a way of the hotel owner trying to express that to the public. Nowadays there are decent motels and guesthouses, that are dotting our country. This is not only happening in malaysia, but also in thailand, indonesia and other neighbouring countries.

Its very common in developed countries, that guesthouses are mushrooming due to the expensive hotel rooms available in reputable hotels. Hotels are capitalizing on this fact, that most people dont dare to stay in cheaper motels/guesthouses for the fear of insecurity.

Much have been done from the guesthouses, and motels to change this perception. For example installing cctv's, locking the main doors, and also prohibiting soliciting in the premises.

All these are signs of motels/guesthouses taking action to change the perception of the locals.

Some guesthouses and motels even go to greater lengths to ban locals from the premises. This is due to the lack of civic mindedness and inconsideration to the other guests, like bringing alcohol and women to the rooms.

I totally agree with the sign here....that boldly states what it represents!

To share an incident with all of you:

I was staying in a motel along jalan bukit bintang recently. This place a pretty reknown backpacker joint. So anyways, this lady was sitting with the boss outside at the lobby, when i entered. After saying good night to the boss, i went in to my room.

10 minutes later, i hear this lady speaking in chinese, telling the boss, that she wants to go to sleep.

From the conversation, i could gather that a man has just arrived and was waiting for her in the room. She was denying that any hanky panky was going to happen and she said...she only wanted to sleep. So ...right....10 minutes later.

There's this...errotic moaning sound ..echoing thru the halls. Man ..was it loud. Because the walls were made of thin wood, you could hear it also in the lobby.

I joined the other ppl who stuck their heads out of the door to see what was happening. (just to show that the noise wasnt coming from my room)! ;)

The sound must have continueed....for like half an hour. It was like they were filming porn in the room! I can guarantee that really disturbed the entire ground floor customers.

This goes to show how inconsiderate ...locals are. Hence why the sign! ;)

hope this changes the attitude of locals
